Slaughterhouse Angels

Photographer Vanessa von Zitzewitz has spent two months a year for the past four years at Bangkok’s Mercy Center, documenting the struggles and joys of the children through her powerful black and white images. Established in 1973 in the slaughterhouse district, the center serves as a home to approximately 200 street children, orphans, and children living with HIV, while also housing a kindergarten and pre-school. Vanessa’s sensitive lens captures the resilience and beauty within each child, inviting viewers to reflect on their stories.
